Psychological and Educational Evaluations

At Growing Foundations, the child’s holistic well-being is our standard for practice. We strive to capture their true abilities and help establish the foundations for growth and a thriving future. Upon our initial session, we will discuss the strengths and needs of your child and develop a plan to conduct a psychoeducational evaluation that is comprehensive to these needs. We aid in the evaluation of learning difficulties, giftedness, ADHD, emotional or behavioral disorders, and other developmental disorders such as autism. Our psychoeducational evaluations include a comprehensive report and a review of evaluation results with home and school recommendations. At this time, our practice is not accepting health insurance and will be using a self-pay model. We are Step Up providers for the Family Empowerment Scholarship for Students with Unique Abilities. Specific Learning Disorder (SLD)

Specific Learning Disorder (SLD) involves persistent difficulties with perceiving or processing information for learning academic skills. It is characterized by difficulties with learning foundational academic skills in reading, writing, and/or math. The evaluation includes assessment of academic achievement and cognitive processing.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is characterized by differences in social communication and social interaction as well as the presence of distinct patterns of behaviors, interests, or activities. The evaluation includes assessment of developmental history, academic achievement, cognitive processing, adaptive functioning, and social/emotional/behavioral skills.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

ADHD a common condition that affects how children think, focus, and control their actions. Children with ADHD may have trouble paying attention, following directions, and staying organized. The evaluation includes assessment of academic achievement, cognitive processing, and social/emotional/behavioral skills as needed.

Giftedness

Giftedness refers to children who perform or have the ability to perform at higher levels compared to same-aged peers. Children with such talents often benefit from enriched educational experiences that expand their learning and enhance their strengths. The evaluation for giftedness includes an assessment of cognitive functioning (IQ testing).

Emotional or Behavioral Disorders

Emotional or Behavioral Disorders involve persistent emotional or behavioral difficulties that impact a child’s functioning across areas of life. This includes disorders such as depression and anxiety. The evaluation includes assessment of academic achievement and social/emotional/behavioral skills.

Educational Accommodations

Adolescents with disabilities can apply for accommodations upon entering college. Colleges may have specific requirements such as an updated evaluation. The evaluation may include assessment of academic achievement, cognitive processing, and social/emotional/behavioral functioning.
