Psychoeducational Evaluations

At Growing Foundations, the child’s holistic well-being is our standard for practice. We strive to capture their true abilities and help establish the foundations for growth and a thriving future. Our iPad-based assessments are interactive and engaging for children and adolescents. Upon our initial session, we will discuss the strengths and needs of your child and develop a plan to conduct a fair and valid psychoeducational evaluation that is comprehensive to these needs. We aid in the evaluation of learning difficulties, giftedness, ADHD, emotional or behavioral disorders, and other developmental disorders such as autism. Our psychoeducational evaluations include a comprehensive report and a review of evaluation results with home-school recommendations. At this time, our practice is not accepting health insurance and will be using a self-pay model for services. Contact us for more information on services and fees.

Specific Learning Disorder (SLD)

Specific Learning Disorder (SLD) involves persistent difficulties with perceiving or processing information for learning academic skills. It is characterized by difficulties with learning foundational academic skills in reading, writing, and/or math. The evaluation includes assessment of academic achievement and cognitive processing.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is characterized by persistent deficits in social communication and social interaction as well as the presence of restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities. The evaluation includes assessment of developmental history, academic achievement, cognitive processing, adaptive functioning, and social/emotional/behavioral skills.

Intellectual Disability (IND)

Intellectual Disability (IND) is a disorder that includes significant deficits in both intellectual functioning and everyday adaptive skills in the conceptual, social, and practical domains. The evaluation for Intellectual Disability (IND) includes assessment of developmental history, academic achievement, cognitive processing, and adaptive functioning.

Giftedness

Giftedness refers to students who perform or have the ability to perform at higher levels compared to same-aged peers. Students with such talents often benefit from enriched educational experiences that expand their learning and enhance their strengths. The evaluation for giftedness includes an assessment of cognitive functioning (IQ testing).

Emotional or Behavioral Disorders

Emotional or Behavioral Disorders involve persistent emotional or behavioral difficulties that impact the child’s functioning across areas of life. This includes disorders such as depression, anxiety, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The evaluation includes assessment of academic achievement and social/emotional/behavioral skills. Assessment of cognitive processing may also be included as needed.

Educational Accommodations

Students with disabilities can apply for accommodations upon entering college. Colleges may have specific requirements to apply for accommodations which may include an updated psychoeducational evaluation. The evaluation may include assessment of academic achievement, cognitive processing, and social/emotional/behavioral functioning as needed.
